Report on Lease of Property on 6th and 152nd (Burien)

A last-minute agenda item was added to the Burien City- Council meeting by Councilman Kevin Schilling. He proposed that a lease agreement with “Burien CARES” be added: (the lease of the public land located on 6th and 152nd, currently a tent city – brought to you by the likes of Krystal Marx, Cydney Moore, Sarah Moore, and Charles Schaefer.)
It was proposed that the land be put up for lease. They received four proposals; in the executive session, it was decided that “Burien CARES” was the best fit. They will maintain it as a community dog park.
With no surprise, Councilwoman Cydney Moore tried to filibuster the motion and was quickly (for this council) shot down – at a 5/2 split. It was amended to begin negotiations with “Burien CARES” and the minimum pricing, as stated by law.
No further information was given regarding minimum pricing, time frame, and the next steps in this process.
