We BELIEVE that our beautiful city in South Puget sound is destined to be the Gem of the Sound. 

We have 30+ local writers who share in this vision and report on what is true, what is right, and what is lovely. We also shed light on the challenges our city faces, with the goal to bring about changes, instill hope, and daily transform Burien into its destiny as the Gem of the Sound.

Our mission is to share stories that inspire, bring healing, build unity and develop a culture of honor and to speak truth to power — holding government, business, education, and faith communities accountable to their responsibilities, commitments, and stated values.

We first launched in June of 2022 with http://www.gemofthesound.com. We are now Burien News Powered by the Gem of the Sound.
