The following is Independent Journalist Jonathan Choe’s “X” post 11/7/23 regarding Oasis Home Church Encampment Meeting on Sunday, 11/5/23:
CHAOTIC CONVERSATION: It’s election day in Burien. Several critical city council seats are up for grabs.
One of the most contentious issues remains the handling/mishandling of the homeless crisis in the city.
Councilmember Cydney Moore remains extremely vulnerable because of her most recent attempt to bring in a “temporary sanctioned encampment” behind Oasis Home Church. Neighbors accuse her of trying to quietly ram this controversial project through without their consent.
Over the weekend, another public meeting devolved into arguments, name calling, and accusations of bias.
Critics also accuse Moore of trying to divert funding from King County into her homeless non-profit and say she should recuse herself from all votes related to this church encampment. #Burien
