Burien Eclipse Experience October 14, 2023

By Stuart Jenner.

Did you see the eclipse the morning of October 14th? Peak viewing was 9:10 a.m. to 9:25 a.m.  Fortunately, in the Burien area the clouds cleared enough “most of the time” to see the moon block much of the sun.

Eclipse glasses made all the difference. With the glasses, one can see the ring. One photo was taken on an iPhone by KG, with another person holding the glasses in front of the camera lens.

The other photo was taken without the glasses. The sunlight was diminished, but still strong enough to fill the camera’s sensor and make it appear almost normal even though 80% of the sun was covered up.
