Non-profit organization Lighthouse NW will host their annual 5k race for their Celebrate 23 event on October 14, 2023. This event will raise support for their ongoing mission of “breaking the cycle of domestic abuse one relationship at a time,” according to their website. The race will begin alongside the Des Moines Creek Parkrun at 9 a.m. at the Des Moines Beach Park Event Center, located at 22030 Cliff Ave S, Des Moines. The $45 registration includes a T-shirt to be worn during the race.
Lighthouse NW is a faith-based non-profit organization that provides recovery programs for survivors of domestic abuse, as well as training programs for awareness of domestic abuse.
The 5k run will be followed by the Celebrate Event and Dessert Dash at Hope Church in Des Moines, located at 22415 19th Ave. S. Participants can enjoy dessert and participate in the silent auction that begins online on September 29. This free event benefiting survivors of domestic abuse requires registration.
