The Seattle Times reviewed Burien’s Stevie’s Famous New York-style Pizza Restaurant in an August 3 article.

Stevie’s Famous, located at 822 152nd St. in Burien, opened in November of 2022. Owners Shane Abbot and Justin Harcus have faced criticism for their pies not being authentically New York-style. For example, they do not use water imported from New York to make their dough, and their pizzas are one inch short in diameter of an authentic New York pie.

Seattle Times reporter Tan Vinh disagreed with these criticisms, citing the flaky crust that passes the infamous “fold test” and the slight taste of fermentation in the dough.

“The restaurant’s best-selling slice is a double dose of pepperoni, with charred, lacy, heat-curled ‘roni cups that hold their orange grease,” Vinh said.

This little pizza shop in Olde Burien has attracted pizza buffs from Seattle and beyond. Is it worth the hype?
