Keller Throws Complete Game Shutout

Pirates Win over Lindbergh Eagles
By Martin Barrett

Cameron Keller pitches complete game shutout

Finally, baseball weather showed up! And on a beautiful spring afternoon, Cameron Keller pitched a complete game shutout. Throwing just 79 pitches, 63 for strikes, he efficiently controlled the Lindbergh Eagles and helped the Highline Pirates’ Baseball Team improve to a 10-10 record with their 3-0 win.

The Pirates picked up 7 hits and 4 walks. Twice they had the bases loaded but left runners in scoring position. Highline could muster only a single run in the 1st, 5th, and 7th innings. Hawke Hansen led the offense with 3 hits in 4 at-bats.

The game was unusual for Coach Jonny Locher’s team. The Pirates like to burn up the bases with aggressive stealing, but Eagles pitchers did a good job of holding Pirate runners close to the bag, and Highline had only one stolen base. Highline had two errors in the afternoon, a rare Locher team occurrence.

The Pirates are currently in second place in the KingCo league. The playoff picture is unclear, with the final game tomorrow, Wednesday, April 26. However, they definitely will be in the tournament.

The last game is “Senior Night.” The first pitch is 5:00 PM at Mosier Field.
