Seattle Gymnastics Academy Comes to Burien

By Ruth Storkel

Are you a gymnastics enthusiast? Have you wanted to exercise more now that the new year is here?

Seattle Gymnastics Academy has recently opened wide its doors to Burien and the surrounding communities. It is conveniently located at Five-Corners next to PCC: 15840 1st Ave. S., Burien, with over 13,300 square feet!

There are many opportunities available to people of all ages! SGA’s mission is to “develop strength, skill, and character through progressive gymnastics and quality instruction.”

One great opportunity is the “Indoor Playground” session for preschool children 0-5 years of age. For one hour, your child can have the entire gym all to themselves (these classes are M/W/F, 12-1 p.m.) Parental supervision is required.

Another SGA offering is their Adult Fitness Classes for men and women, ages 18 and above, 1-2 hours per week. Currently, it is scheduled Mondays from 6:45 -7:45 p.m.

Whatever your child’s gymnastic interest is, there are many enjoyable classes to choose from:
Preschool Gym Class
(45. min. classes) ages 2-4
Working with bars, beams, trampoline, and more.

Boys’ and Girls’ Artistic Gymnastic Recreational Classes
Ages 5-17, 1-2 hours weekly
Girls’ Classes introduce four events:
Balance beam, uneven bars, vault, and floor exercises
Boys’ Classes include six events:
Pommel horse, parallel bars, high bar, vault, rings, and
floor exercises.

Does your child love the trampoline?
Here’s the Trampoline and Tumbling program:
Boys and Girls aged 5-17
Spends time on the trampoline and floor exercises.
Classes are available on M/T/W/Th with a variety of
times and instructors.

SGA offers a Summer Gym Camp program for ages 3-10.
The time to sign up is now! Registration for the
general public began on Feb. 1, 2023.
For additional information, please call SGA at

With cold, wet weather still on the horizon this spring, SGA
is a great indoor place to learn a new skill, get some exercise and
shake off those winter blahs!
