Interested in running for elected office?
In just 16 weeks from Monday, January 23, candidate filing opens for positions on the November 2023 ballot. Candidate filing is May 15 – 19, closing at 4:30 pm on May 19. The primary election is on August 1, 2023, and the general is on November 7, 2023.
Some local races worth noting:
Highline School District: Three out of five seats are up for election.
Board members Aaron Garcia, Carrie Howell, and Azeb Hagos are all in seats that will be up for a vote this year. Meet your board at:
Aaron Garcia represents District 1, an area comprised of White Center plus parts of Burien.
Carrie Howell, District 3, represents an area that includes a large part of Normandy Park plus some of Seatac.
Azeb Hagos, district 5, represents much of Des Moines, plus a tiny part of Normandy Park.

Burien City Council: Three seats out of the seven are up for election.
North Highline Fire District: One seat of three is up for election. Note this is a six-year term.
