Hi-Liner’s “Beauty and the Beast Jr.” Now Playing

By Ruth Storkel

The Hi-Liners Musical Theatre is back in full swing! They are presently performing  “Beauty and the Beast Jr.“ at Highline College, 2400 S. 240 Building 4,  Des Moines.  Tickets are available for these dates: Jan. 6-8, 13-15, and 20-22. Tickets may be purchased on-line: www.hi-liners.org/tickets.html

The Hi-Liners have come a long way from their small beginning in 1966. Mr. William Moeller, a Highline school teacher, began the Hi-Liners as a summer program. It eventually became a year-around program that provided variety shows for Northwest audiences.

In 1994 the organization began presenting one main-stage production each fall. Over the years they have presented a variety of shows that include “Oliver”, “The Little Mermaid’, “Annie”, ‘Oklahoma” etc.

Advancing to this year, 2023, the Hi-Liners have gone from just one yearly show to offering so much more: classes, workshops, and camps along with a full season of stage productions. This year our community has opportunity to enjoy:

“Beauty and the Beast Jr.” (January)

“Newsies Jr”. (April)

“Mary Poppins, the Broadway Musical” (July)

“Disney’s Frozen Kids” (August)

The mission statement of the Hi-Liners states: “We are determined to preserve and advance the performing arts in the lives of the students in our community…”

Parents: This is a wonderful opportunity for your child(ren) to grow artistically, and share their dancing, musical and dramatic gifts with our Burien community!
