Highline High Boys Basketball begins a new season with changes, including new Head Coach Ricky Frazier.
Coach Frazier is no stranger to the Highline High basketball program; he helped coach the team as an assistant last year. With his extensive background in Seattle Metro League HS basketball, Coach Frazier is the right person to coach and lead the team.
He grew up in Seattle and began playing basketball at the age of eight with childhood friend and future NBA basketball star Jamal Crawford.
In high school, playing for Rainier Beach HS in 1998, he and Jamal led the team to a State Championship.
His basketball playing days continued after High School at Shoreline CC, where he was NWAC Conference MVP Player in 2002.
After college, he began his HS coaching career back at his alma mater Rainer Beach High School and was a seven-year assistant under legendary coach Mike Bethea.
Ricky had the honor of being on the coaching staff at Rainier Beach HS basketball team, which won the 2013 State Championship featuring future NBA player Dejounte Murray.
After coaching at Rainier Beach HS, he joined Franklin HS Boys Basketball and was an assistant coach under Craig Jackson for five years.

His life is busy beyond coaching basketball! Coach Frazier is married, has four active kids, and works as a school administrator at Washington Middle School in Seattle.
Coach Frazier wants to build a good team, encourage his players to do well in school, and help the community with service opportunities for those in need. Next week on Thanksgiving day, his players will donate their time serving food to those in need at a local church.
It’s clear Frazier knows what it takes to play winning basketball, build a team and create a positive culture for his players to thrive at Highline High School.
Highline’s 2022-2023 basketball season begins on Monday, Nov 28th, with a 7 PM home game vs. Cascade HS.
