Growing up in Seattle, Miran began running in 8th grade and then continued at Ballard High School, where she ran varsity for four years. Her passion for running was set, and she decided to focus on college and use running for health and fitness. After college and receiving her Master’s degree in teaching from Eastern Washington University, she continued to run and work out both for the joy of running and because she values personal fitness. Miran even qualified and ran the 26.2-mile Boston Marathon in 2017! She is married to her high school sweetheart, and they share a  young daughter with who she takes out on her runs.

This year Miran was hired to teach Health & Fitness at Highline High and also became the Head Coach for the Boys & Girls Cross Country team.

How do you like coaching the boy’s & girl’s Cross Country teams at Highline High School?
“I love it! We are rebuilding the team and have a great group of kids on the team. My goal is to make running a passion and
encourage them to love running and do it for health and fitness. I’ve always wanted to spread the joy of running to others. Running helps to improve the mental outlook of both adults and kids. Running together for 30 minutes fosters tremendous relationships with others you get to run with.”

How is the Cross Country team at Highline High School doing this year?
They are doing well this year with 15 kids on the team. The top runner on the boy’s team is Logan Jones, and one of the top runners on the girl’s team is Katie Box. The team continues to improve their personal best times each week.”

The next Highline High Cross Country meet will be on Wednesday, October 12th, at 3:30 pm at Evergreen High School in Burien.

Come check out the next meet and the great sport of Cross Country running!
